There are many champagne punch recipes, a great classic in cocktails, but this one is extra-special, since it comes from the world’s first cocktail recipe book, published in America in 1862. It also has the advantage of being easy to make.

 

Method:

  • In a highball glass, pour syrup and juice, then fill with crushed ice

  • Garnish with orange and pineapple

 

Tip:

  • As mentioned in the 1862 cocktail book, you can substitute strawberry syrup for raspberry syrup

    – 15 ml aged rum
    – Mint leaf

Method:

  • In a cocktail shaker, add all the ingredients (except the champagne)

Story:

The Champagne Sour cocktail first appeared in New York in the 19th century. In particular, the recipe was included in Harry Johnson’s “Bartender’s Manual”, published in 1882 in New York, one of the best books on the subject. It is very easy to make, requiring few ingredients, and can be prepared in just 3 steps!

 

Method:

  • In a chilled coupe glass, add syrup and lemon juice
  • Fill up with Mumm Grand Cordon
  • Stir gently and garnish with a lemon twist

 

Tip:

  • If you would like a more pronounced sour taste, add more sugar and lemon juice to keep the drink well-balanced

One of the first mentions of champagne cocktails in America was in the book “Panama in 1885”, published in New York in the same year. This recipe specifies using Mumm champagne, already recognised at the time as one of the best champagnes.

 

Method:

  • Soak the sugar cube with the bitters
  • Place the sugar cube in a champagne flute

  • Twist the lemon peel and place it inside
