G.H.Mumm, the avant-garde champagne house, has unveiled The Maison Mumm, a luxury hotel themed marquee in the Birdcage that has experiences at the forefront of the design. As the brand’s most luxurious endeavour in the Birdcage to date, Mumm has engaged a group of Australia’s most esteemed innovators – the ‘Mumm Collective’– who have each contributed to the multi-layered experiences within, immersing guests in a world of style, celebration and champagne.

Internationally-acclaimed Fashion Designer Dion Lee created the Maison Mumm Hotel staff uniforms; Interior Designer Nina Maya has spent months sourcing the most exquisite interiors for the hotel; Artist Alesandro Ljubicic has created bespoke artworks for the walls of the Maison Mumm hotel;  Entrepreneur Hayden Cox has designed each of the Mumm Champagne ice buckets from innovative resin materials; and media personality and presenter Kate Peck  is co-hosting the Maison Mumm Hotel, alongside Mumm Champagne ambassador Chris Sheehy.

For Media Preview Day,

each member of the Mumm Collective was in attendance with Dion Lee, fresh from New York, cutting the Mumm red sash to signify the official opening of the Maison Mumm Hotel. To set the tone for the festivities to come, co-hosts Kate Peck and Chris Sheehy simultaneously staged the famous Mumm ‘tap-tap’ amidst lava coloured smoke bombs, a grand visual display of champagne and colour, showering upwards and outwards from a magnum of Mumm’s Grand Cordon.

Dion’s innovative capsule collection will not only be the official uniform of the Maison Mumm, but will also be sold exclusively at Dion Lee in-store and online. The collection is inspired by the avant-garde spirit of the champagne house and draws upon Dion’s signature tailoring and form, combining contrasts of sculptural and fluid silhouettes. Guests this week of the Maison Mumm will be invited to appreciate the collection, on display in the Maison Mumm.

Contributing to the culinary element of the marquee is Merivale’s executive chef, Dan Hong, who has curated an east meets west French Asian fusion menu. Guests will be served delicious canape style offerings such as tartlet of stracciatella, kombu and black truffle; fresh Vietnamese rolls with enoki mushroom and silken tofu; duck rillettes banh mi with pickled daikon and coriander; and steak frites with bearnaise sauce.

Julie Chan, G.H. Mumm Brand Manager, said:

“This year Mumm will host one of its most luxurious and stylish celebrations yet and we’re thrilled to bring “The Collective” together, as they are leaders in their respective fields, who have played a critical role in bringing this to life. It is the first time ever that Mumm has creatively collaborated with design, entertainment and culinary experts, and we’ve channeled some of the world’s most exquisite hotels and retail boutiques for their avant-garde style and passion for detail to ensure no element of guest experience or innovation is overlooked”

As the Official Champagne of the Melbourne Cup Carnival for the tenth year running,

the Mumm marquee is again  most luxurious place to celebrate at in the Birdcage this year. Mumm has firmly established a reputation as the place to be seen, and the Mumm Maison Hotel themed marquee will be the best place to embrace the atmosphere of spring racing celebrations in 2019.
